Catrina is currently working with Professor Vicky Doan-Nguyen and Professor David McComb on characterizing solid-electrolyte interfaces. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from University of California - Santa Barbara in 2018. At UCSB, she worked with Professor Ram Seshadri on synthesizing and analyzing various battery materials. Such battery materials included cathodes for both Li-ion and Na-ion batteries, as well as a series of electrolyte additives for Li-ion batteries. She will now be synthesizing and characterizing solid-electrolytes to better understand the chemistry that occurs at the interfaces. These interfaces are not well understood and hold the key to developing better battery materials. She is also helping organize a science mentor-ship program, SPARK (Science Partnerships and Resources for Kids), with Professor Doan-Nguyen and Gladden House in the Columbus area.
