Semanti is a member of Michael Mills' group. She earned her M.Tech. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, where she studied the alloy design and structure-property correlations in W-free Co-base superalloys. She also received her bachelor’s degree from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2017. Her undergraduate research was focused on developing novel materials. She investigated the possibility of utilizing the paramagnetic to ferromagnetic phase transitions in a multiferroic half-Heusler alloy to generate electricity from heat in a prototype of a heat conversion system. She was also involved in a structure-property correlations study in High Entropy Alloys.
