Sarah Mikula received her Bacehlor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon. After working in a histology-based research lab at OHSU, she transitioned to managing three neuroscience labs at the UC Davis Center for Neuroscience. She then moved to Germany with her husband and spent six years in Heidelberg at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research and four years in Munich working as the departmental lab manager and researcher in the department of Winfried Denk.
In Germany she worked alongside her husband developing new electron microscopy methods for mapping the brain.
With a background in lab management and novel sample preparation, Sarah now supervises the CEMAS laboratory, manages the CEMAS wetlabs and collaborates with users on novel staining and biological sample preparation method development. She also serves as the safety officer for CEMAS.
