Dr. Stephen R. Boona earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Northern Illinois University in 2008, followed by a Master of Science in Applied Physics from NIU in 2010, and then a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from Michigan State University in 2013. He joined the CEMAS staff in August of 2017 after spending four years as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Ohio State University, first with Joseph P. Heremans in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and then with Fengyuan Yang at the OSU Center for Emergent Materials. Dr. Boona brings to CEMAS over a decade of experience in solid-state physics and materials science, including bulk materials synthesis and processing, physical and magnetic property measurements, and material characterization via imaging, diffraction, and spectroscopic analysis with both electron and x-ray probes.
