Among the many varieties of energetic beams available for studying materials, scanning electron microscopes (SEMs) provide access to the lowest possible energies. This talk will briefly discuss the interesting and weird realm of low energy electron microscopy, including operating tips and examples of information obtainable only from working with the kindest and gentlest of electron beams.
